About the store
I grauduated with an M.A. in speech language pathology in 2003 and began working at a pediatric outpatient hospital. Over the past 20+ years, I have had the privelege of working in many different settings, including a craniofacial clinic, a school for children with autism, public schools, and private settings. For the last 7 years, I have run my own speech therapy clinic. Recently, I have been learning about the importance of managing the executive functioning system in order to promote learning of speech, language, literacy, and life skills. I am very interested in how the brain functions and increasing connectivity by integrating the sensory system, especially through movement.

Teaching style

I believe that the two most important tenets to success in speech therapy are 1) establishing rapport and trust and 2) being prepared for your session. Having the materials ready and a plan for the session is invaluable. It allows you to proceed with confidence focus on the therapy goals (of course it helps to have the students engaged and motivated too!). I know from experience that school SLPs simply do not have time to prepare sessions, which creates frustration all around. The goal of my store is to do the preparation for you! I also make a point of putting a lot of free things on my page to support SLPs! :)

Early Articulation Books for Cleft Palate Speech - published by LinguiSystems (now Pro-Ed) in 2008 University of Florida Alumni Spotlight https://slhs.phhp.ufl.edu/2021/07/28/alumni-spotlight-kristi-chamberlain/

My own education history

I graduated from the University of Florida in 2003 with a Masters of Arts degree in Speech and Language Pathology. During my time at UF, I worked as a Teachers Assistant and helped teach a phonology class. I also worked as a research assistant and helped test children with central auditory processing disorder and dyslexia. For my externship, I traveled to Atlanta and worked at the Craniofacial Clinic at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Additional biographical information

I had the privilege of learning from Dr. Riski of the Craniofacial Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta for my externship during my time at the University of Florida. After completing my degree, I worked at a Children's Healthcare of Atlanta outpatient rehabilitation site for 2 years, where I increased my experience working with children who presented with craniofacial disorders and velopharyngeal port insufficiency (VPI), in addition to all other speech and language disorders. Throughout the years, I have also worked in schools and clinics. I have become trained in different methods of working with children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). I became certified in Autism Movement Therapy in 2015 by Joanna Lara. Most recently I attended the Autism Movement Therapy Symposium where I had the honor of meeting and listening to Dr. Temple Grandin.
