We have Spanish homework books that can be used with any reading curriculum! Use them for rotating centers or to be sent home. We have center activities to support segmenting and blending words into sounds, syllables, and whole word reading, etc. We also have INDEPENDENT games to be used while you are teaching a small group. I created these activities for my own classroom and for use when subs come into my room who do NOT speak any Spanish, but can deliver the lessons from these easy to use activities!
I started teaching Kindergarten in '98. The majority of my career has been in Spanish reading in K! I moved up to 1st grade closer to home. I now teach ELA and have the privilege of to work with our ELL community and connect daily with them. I also hold a Spanish club after school!
I've taught in an Early Exit model, Late Exit, DUAL Language 2 way 80/20, and 90/10! I now each in a Sheltered English classroom, but with Spanish support.

Teaching style
I LOVE teaching through play-based learning and interactive centers. When we use workbooks or worksheets, they are usually only with me at the teacher center rotation or used to reinforce learning at home. When the students become proficient at these repetitive style pages, I like to fill out the answers (both correct and incorrect) and fix my mistakes. They LOVE being the "Super Slueth!" I believe that language and learning happens when peers are interacting and playing games! Our iReady math and reading scores are proving this to be successful and helps students to learn through developmental appropriate play!
Awards & shining teacher moments
2013: I received a grant for 8 Dell Latitude Tablets to use in the classroom! Office comes loaded and you can go back and forth between tablet mode and office. Mimio is also installed so the students can play all of the Mimio games I have! LOVE THEM!
2010: I received the TL21 (Teaching and Learning in the 21st century) teaching Grant through WA State OSPI for my kindergarten classroom to integrate technology. In my classroom we use independent student stations where we use the MIMIO activities I have created here as well as the PowerPoints.

Additional biographical information
I'm married with 2 children. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2009, but it has only slowed me down, not deterred me. I'm a twin who also speaks Spanish and diagnosed with MS 10 years after myself. We are more determined than ever to beat this! :-) I love teaching and being a wife and mother.
