These resources are to help supplement a textbook with CI and proficiency activities for a house unit. This could be used in level 1 or early level 2. This includes: -a two page reading on homes with a cultural slant -pre, during and post reading activities -a story to tell with an activity to accompany it -an interpretive reading activity on an authentic resource -listening activity -speaking practice -a website activity

As teachers start to integrate teaching for proficiency and using novels in the foreign language classroom, they are navigating how to assess as well. I have used both novels and IPAs in my classroom. My goal is to share how I created my own IPAs, so each teacher feels comfortable creating one for the novel that they are using.

Students complete a cloze activity as they listen to Abraham Mateo's Girlfriend song in Spanish. They answer questions about the video and the song and translate some of the lines of the song.
