With 15 years of experience working with students in grades K-8, I am a passionate educator, school principal, and proud mom of three. My expertise lies in literacy with a focus on the science of reading, real-life applications across content areas, and differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners. I have successfully implemented a variety of curricula, including Eureka Math, CKLA Listening and Learning, CKLA History and Geography, Amplify Science, Fish Tank Learning ELA, Magnetic Phonics, Phonics for Reading, Reading Mastery, and Units of Study in Writing.

Point of View: Who is Telling the Story? (RL 1.6) - Posters and Worksheets
This file has a point of view poster that identifies keys and thinking steps for figuring out who is telling the story. (first person and third person). It includes several versions with different popular books, as well as, a blank poster so you can add your own examples. Written Retell Template - NO PREP- Just Print!
This a template that I've used for the last couple of years to quickly assess student's understanding of text sequence, story elements, and the overall meaning.
I use it as a checkpoint at different points and the year as well as a progressive assessment to demonstrate student growth in reading comprehension.
It can be adapted to any fiction text.

WOOP goal setting is a researched based way to support students as they create their own goals. It's generally used for students in middle schools. I've been successful at adopting for elementary audiences. There are two template one with prompts and lines to write. The other with blank areas for students to draw and label detailed pictures.
