These scaffolds literally saved my life. After struggling my first year teaching Ready Gen, I finally created these guide sheets, which encompass 3 of the 4 main portions of instruction: Word Word, Readers Workshop, and Writers Workshop. Not only did these scaffolds keep me organized in terms of planning and administering lessons, but they also helped me keep up with pacing throughout each unit. Each lesson includes a list of specific student friendly learning targets (which I also used for my w
This chart (and accompanying activity) gets young scholars thinking about how to articulate their thoughts as they record a scientific observation. Can also be used as a tool for descriptive writing. The best part is that its fully editable!!! I suggest that you make it your own and let student create their own words (with scaffolding where needed) I have a large copy printed in the classroom, and each student has a copy in their scientific journals.
This rubric is used to evaluate scientific observation for beginners. There is also a student-friendly checklist that they can use to monitor their own progress through the written part of the observation process.
The best thing is YOU CAN EDIT EVERYTHING!!! I used our school Mascot, but you can cut and paste and use your own!!!

The title is very self explanatory. I printed out Kobe's poem Dear Basketball and had my 4th graders analyze it. We discussed character, point of view, and figurative language along the way. Then, we watched a YouTube video of the poem that was accompanied by some really cool visuals, and students were tasked with writing an opinion piece about Kobe either via poem or letter.
I use this as a nightly addition to homework to track student's at-home silent reading. There is a space to record the title and pages read, as well as a space to jot down what they read about and a line for parent signature. On the back is a list of story elements for students to chose from with details that can help the parents to help the students at home. Thanks in advance for downloading this product. I hope its as useful to you as it's been for me.
This is pretty self explanatory. Its easy to modify as needed! As always, feel free to leave suggestions on how I can make this product even MORE functional! THANKS!!!
