Spork and Chuy are best friends who love Superman-flavored ice cream. When the ice cream store claims to offer free ice cream tomorrow, will they get what they desire most? This is a story appropriate for TPRS/CI classrooms in simple Spanish. Beginner Spanish students can read on their own. Targeted structures: el helado, gratis, hoy, mañana This is a story I've added to my Free Reading library in a simple clear binder cover, but you could also read it with your students, especially to make s

Chuy loves to eat garlic, but doesn't want to have bad breath for the first day of school. His mom has a solution! This is a short, simple story for beginning Spanish learners. My hope is that it will help you to start talking with your students about wearing a mask in school in a lighthearted way. Reading questions for teachers:In addition to circling the text and describing the illustrations with your students, you might also ask questions related to the following Intercultural understanding

6 stories describing and embellishing popular viral videos from the past year or so. Your students may be familiar with the videos already, which will help them understand the stories! Put the stories in your classroom library for students to read and then watch the video. They could also be a homework assignment if you don't have 1:1 devices in your classroom. Another teacher suggested having students write a summary in English before they can watch the video. If you are going to use these s

This is a PowerPoint Picture Talk of the Legend of the Pípila. It is meant to go along with chapter 6 of Pancho y las momias, (which will be coming out some time in October 2017!) but it also stands on its own and doesn't give away anything in the book. This battle reportedly happened just after the Grito de Dolores, the beginning of the Mexican War of Independence from Spain. It is the story of how the brave act of a poor miner helped Mexicans win one of their first victories of the independen

Elena has been home alone all day. When she tries to order food for herself, she gets a mysterious message, and everything goes haywire. You choose what happens next! Here is an example of a "Choose Your Own Adventure"-style story I wrote for and with my students. It's a powerpoint with choices every few slides so that your students can debate, discuss, and decide on a path to take. Who knows where you'll end up! The story is written for intermediate students, my students are in 6th grade and

Additional biographical information

I'm a TPRS/TCI teacher and I love writing for my students. My students are 5th and 6th graders who have had TPRS Spanish since first grade. They are hilarious and inspire me so much! Most of my materials are tailored to them. They are beginner-intermediates. Please let me know what you like, how you use the resources I share, and how I can improve them!
