This middle/upper grades activity is a great for a brain break or for getting to know students likes and tastes at the beginning of the year. Each student gets a chance to highlight what they personally find to be beautiful. It makes for a great class discussion as students find similarities and contrasts with their classmates choices. Student Directions: Find a slide and type your name on it. Find images for each category to show your aesthetic, or what you judge to be beautiful.
This is a great, no-prep activity for newcomer multilingual students of any age or middle-elementary students. Perfect for sub plans! First, students look for items around the class for objects that begin with teach letter of the alphabet. Then, students write sentences using the objects with the goal of stretching their writing to include as many details as possible.
