I enjoy Reading Language Arts, but I have experience teaching Reading, Writing, Science Social Studies, and Math. My passion is working with students in challenging environments helping them surpass benchmark goals through individualized learning plans. I am certified to teach PreK-6th grade and ESL certified. I have experience administering state testing, TELPAS, MAPS testing and more. I have been teaching over 5 years in elementary and middle school.
I prefer to learn from my students through one on one and small group settings. The students learning styles guide how I approach a new topic. I like to diversify my teaching strategies using all of the learning styles. I also encourage peer to peer learning in the classroom and used differentiation strategies throughout my lessons. I believe all children learn with different tools and have different ways of absorbing information and it is my duty as a teacher to foster that environment in the classroom.
Teacher of the Month - Nov 2017
Teaching was not my first career. It took several jobs to realize that teaching is my calling. I have a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and a Masters of Science in Business Management. I am certified to teach in the state of Texas and have a broad understanding of common core and Staar testing. I have a certificate in English as a Second Language (ESL).
In addition to teaching, I am a wife and mother of 3 beautiful children. I enjoy learning about new things and actually have a hobby of reading about different cultures. I find people to be fascinating and try to understand everyone's story from their perspective. When I am not teaching, being a wife and mother, I enjoy traveling and freelance writing.
