Math About Me Poster Rubric
Have students introduce themselves using number equations instead of the same old "All About Me" posters. It is a fun way to have students show their personal statistics in a creative way.

Can You Crack The Code?
This activity is designed to extend students' understanding of different types of patterns (numerical, alphabetical, & geometric). The activity is intended for students to work in cooperative pairs and design their own original pattern for their fellow classmates to solve. I always use this activity prior to Back-To-School Night and have them on display in my classroom. The students love the idea of challenging their parents and the parents have fun finding their children's work and attempt

Perimeter and Area Winter Wonderland
Students need grid paper to complete this project. Students need to follow the guidelines to create shapes (rectangles, squares, or odd shapes) for their "Winter Wonderland". A rubric is at the top so students know what is expected of them.

Shopping Spree Project: Calculating Percent Discounts by Multiplying Decimals
I use this project during our multiplying decimals unit. Students apply their knowledge of decimals to calculate the percent discount on items at a store. Students create posters for their store and choose items to sell along with the price and percent discount. Other students can "buy" their items at a discounted price by calculating the percent discount. A rubric and practice assignment are included as well that I use to practice this skill.

ROAD TRIP PROJECT
This Road Trip Project is meant for middle school math students, but can be changed for younger or older.
In this project, students must choose ten places to stop at around the United States of America. At each stop, they need to go to at least one attraction and stay at a hotel. They need to calculate the cost to visit each location and the cost of travel, keeping in mind the mileage for the vehicle they choose.

Decimal Guard
A solution for teachers when students forget to align the decimal point when they add or subtract. Coming from a military family, my father used to say that soldiers must align before their superior. Therefore, what better use for a soldier to guard decimal points. I selected the London guard because the uniform is red and so cute. Remember, soldiers must align vertically when they are in duty.
