ZAP! An assessment game for any subject!
ZAP! is my students' favorite game. I love it too, because I can use it to quiz them on anything. Simply divide your class into two groups (or more) and ask one group a question of your choosing. If the group gets it correct they choose a square on the SmartBoard screen. It will disappear to show them how their points will change. I typically use this file as a music center in small groups. I project it on my whiteboard and give the students an extra large Styrofoam dice block. I place the SO hint to the left of the treble clef on whatever space I want to use that day. Each student takes a turn rolling the die, using the chart, writing the corresponding solfege on the lines underneath the music staff, and then writing the pitch in quarter notes on the music staff.
