The Soulful Forest is a mental health word picture for children to explore their emotions while giving a space inside their mind to explore. When my husband says, "Calm down" there is very little chance that I will follow that directive. In the same way when we direct kids to "calm down" there will be more success if there is a place they can envision where they are safe, they control it and they can inhabit that space anytime they want.
