Having opportunities to identify as a "helper" can increase a child's sense of well-being and self-esteem. Some of our kiddos with auditory processing, impulsivity, distractability, or language differences can find focus on multi-stepped, clean-up tasks challenging. You can breakdown the task and increase the ability of ALL your children to participate by using this template to create your own step-by-step visuals. These fish can be used in many ways to teach, assess and enforce skills. The students can use them for letter identification, matching upper and lowercase letters, letter sound recognition and many more. They can also be used to put in abc order, or have a child pick a fish and have them say a word that begins or ends with that letter. Give your classroom organization and order. Classroom structure gives children a sense of calm and grounding as the begin to develop an understanding of order in their environment and using both photos and icons is a great way to make visuals accessible for diverse learners. You can also add the "children figures" to give kids a visual understanding of how many children are allowed in each area at a time to help minimize conflict.

Daily Behavior Chart

This is a behavior chart that can be used daily. I use it for my students that have behavior issues. I go over it each day with the child and they help fill it out themselves. This is an easy way for them to monitor their progress. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported License.

This includes four pictures going from egg to baby chicken, paired with numbers 1-4. Works well Pre-K thru K, or children in Special Education classrooms working on these skills. I recommend cutting out squares, laminating and adding velcro. Can be laid out on a table or as a file folder activity for repetitive use.
