Make math review more fun with CRYPTOGRAMS! For those who haven't experienced cryptograms before, a cryptogram is a message that has been translated into nonsense- that can mean numbers, shapes, animal pictures, and in this case EQUATIONS! Have your students solve the fraction addition problems, remembering to simplify the answers. This will give the student a fraction (answer) that corresponds to a letter. Probably the best themed unit I’ve done with a class. Based in the IBPYP, pupils are really excited to find out themselves rather than being taught. Their ideas drive the unit. ‘Can we….?’ Replaces ‘Today we’re going to…’ The presentation has AI animated characters who briefly explain, accompanied by voiceover instructions.
