Combine a math lesson (fractions - halves, thirds, quarters, fifths or sixths) with craft and creativity!This packet will provide you with template pieces to make a cute 'Fraction Turtle' for classroom display! Students will color their chosen fraction turtle. They will then label their turtle shell to show the fractions as equal parts. Mixed Number Addition - Like Denominators - Turtle Coloring Puzzle
Here is a fun worksheet for practicing adding mixed numbers with like denominators. Kids solve the problems and then color the turtle's shell based on the answers, which helps them catch some of their own mistakes. Fractions are so important that I'm always looking for more opportunities to get children to practice. This activity is both fun and meaningful. Makes a great math center activity. Fraction/Decimal Diagrams
A nice way to begin the idea of decimal place values and show how fractions and decimals relate to one another. My students use the acronym "Turtles Have Tiny Heads" to help remember the order of the place values that fall after the decimal. This also supports students when learning how to read decimal digits the proper way.
