My students love using their protractors and this was a fun, creative spin to do instead of a final formative assessment.Instead of finding a project, I made my own! Math Task Rubric

This rubric is useful for grading math tasks completed in support of Common Core and the PARCC assessment. I left the document in a .doc file so that you can edit the wording for your grade level (this is the wording I used for 5th grade). This document is 4 pages long...each page is the exact same rubric. Print one page normal size and slip into a sheet protector for students to self-assess with a dry erase marker. Print 4 to a page and cut apart to grade students and attach to their work.

This is a colorful chart of problem solving code words for math. The words are broken into groups (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.) The colorful arrangement helps their brains reflect back to certain words when they are no longer allowed to use their chart. I have found that the students do so much better when they have a copy of the chart in color, but we keep a black and white extra in our notebooks.
