Durden Elementary Shenanigans

This bunny headband is a fun accessory for students to make and wear to celebrate spring, animals, or Easter. The items included to print are the ears, inside of ears, and teeth. Use sentence strips for the band, and googly eyes crayons to finish headband. It is a fun and easy activity for students to practice fine motor skills like cutting and coloring.

This flip book is ready to be printed and stapled. After teaching students facts about living and non-living things, this is a fun way to assess what students have learned. Students draw living and non-living things, and they write three things that living and non-living things have or do.

This is my own version of the sunglasses writing. I thought it would be a great idea to use the sunglasses for my students to talk about their spring break the week they came back to school. They all wrote narratives and loved sharing and getting to draw themselves. Fun!

This is simply a feather writing template where students can write something they are thankful for. I made a big turkey for our kindergarten hall and all the kindergarten students made thankful feathers to go on the turkey. It was very sweet to see all the different things the students were thankful for.

This is a kindergarten alphabet certificate stating that the student knows their 36 lower and uppercase letters and sounds. To make it more exciting when students receive this certificate, print in bright color. My students LOVED getting this certificate and so did the parents, it was a great way to motivate peers to work hard get their certificate as well.

This packet covers all of the first 9 weeks grammar in second grade. I go over this packet with my students during small groups.

This BINGO includes sight words from reading levels A through D for students to practice. The best thing to do is to print it all on color paper and laminate it so that it can be used over and over. My students really enjoyed it! It was a great valentines game.

Read any turkey in trouble story, I read Turkey Trouble. Then we discussed what they would say to the hunter if they were a turkey to convince them not to eat them. We reviewed opinion and letter writing. I told my students they could be what ever they wanted to convince the hunter, for ex: a doctor turkey, so that they hunter could not eat them because they save lives. After reading Late for School by: Steve Martin, we discussed what we would feel like if we were late for school. We talked about expressing how we would feel, look, think, what we would do. We talked about details, this helps people picture just what we would feeling like, look like, think like...etc. I modeled showing details if I was late for school. Then the students shared their details in this worksheet. I told them I wanted to be able to picture them if they were late for school. Great/fun

This is a great place value practice. I laminated mine so that students could write and erase problems with their dry erase markers. They make up the numbers with the dice as they roll them and then add them together. My students loved adding while rolling dice.

Students will pick a number from the number pile, write it under the place it belongs under, then draw out the number in base ten form, and then write their value. I printed 6 copies and laminated them all so that I could make this a center. Students can practice the place and value of numbers with numbers in the ones place to numbers in the hundreds place. My students loved using the dry erase markers, it was a fun way to practice.

This animal writing activities is a fun way for students to practice informational writing, drawing, coloring, and cutting. The animals included are koalas, seals, and penguins, but there are extra worksheets for students to write about different animals. My suggestion is to read books like Baby Koalas, Baby Seals, and Baby Penguins. This craft looks super cute out in the hall.

I did this with my students after we read a book about a bully and we discussed what bullies are and how to handle situations with bullies and how not to be a bully. Great for beginning of school year.

I created this inference worksheet for the fifth grade class I student taught in. After having a mini lesson over inferences the students were given this worksheet to show their understanding. It was a successful lesson.

We used these selfie frames to create a Miss Me Selfie writing pieces tying it in with opinion writing. We talked about how special they all are and why they think they are special. So we then talked about how it's almost the end of the year and I will miss them all. So they wrote opinion paper giving reasons as to why they think their second grade class and I will miss them. This activity reviews 2 dimensional shapes when creating the witch and it also includes writing practice. It is a FUN Halloween craft. Students use fine motor skills when cutting and gluing. I read the book Trick-or-Treat SMELL MY FEET and connected the writing to it. You can get creative with your class, we shared OPINIONS about our potions. Overall it was a fun learning activity and I hope you and your students can enjoy it too! :)

Great to tape onto skittles and glow bracelets and give to students during open house or at the end of the year. Cute easy gifts for students they will love!!!
