Yertle The Turtle Mock Trial
Students will read the story 'Yertle the Turtle' and then participate in this mock trial for their Social Studies class. Each student will be provided with a part (can accommodate entire classes as many students will be assigned to the jury) and a script to read from. Practicing parts is recommended for the trial to run smoothly.

This poetry packet was created to go along with Thirteen Moons on Turtle's Back by Joseph Bruchac. Thirteen Moons on Turtle's Back is a recommended text for Module 1A, Grade 4 ELA on EngageNY.org. Renaissance Artist or Ninja Turtle??
This is a simple introduction activity for Kindergarten or 1st grade Gifted and Talented students to a Renaissance artists unit. Students cut out characteristic cards and paste them into the columns of "Renaissance Artist" or "Ninja Turtle." I usually use this as our first activity as we get into the artists, so this is not an incredibly difficult task.
