Last year I created a "form" for students to fill-out when they did not have their weekly Homework ready to turn in on Friday. This helped me when conferencing with parents. When the child had zeros on a progress report, I could easily take out the HW excuse forms filled in by the student. It did help the students feel more accountable. You'll need to tweek it to your needs. Enjoy!
