Students become accountable and learn from their mistakes and parents are required to be involved as it requires their signature. On the left column, students write the original test question which they missed (for longer word problems, I accept just the problem number). In the center, students need to determine why they got the problem wrong initially. On the right column, students have the chance to red

A self-reflection error analysis checklist to help students monitor their learning. Students complete after each math test and notice mistake patterns. This helps establish plans and goals for future tests. The language of this checklist is age appropriate for 3rd grade and beyond! I use this with my third graders after each test. Just print/copy this checklist and it will be double-sided. I staple it to the top of each math test.

Students use this Corrections/Error Analysis Sheet after they have taken a quiz or test. I have a stack in a tub by our supplies for easy access. Sometimes, I use these Corrections/Error Analysis Sheets in small groups or one to one. If students can analyze why they made certain mistakes, they are more liking to avoid them the next time. It also allows me to group students with similar misunderstandings together.

Mistakes on math tests happen for many reasons: A student may not have remembered the necessary steps, didn’t memorize necessary information, didn’t utilize math notes (if allowed to use), didn’t read directions carefully or just made a silly mistake. The philosophy behind Math Repair is to let students have one more look at their math test. A teacher will re-grade the test and attach the note with the new grade. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me at tcubbedge@yahoo.co
