From NCTM's Mathematics Formative Assessment Vol 2, here is a visual aide/ handout you can use to completely transform grading in your classroom! Participation Rubric
This participation rubric is meant to be used as a weekly grade in any class. The grading is 5, 4, and 3.5 and so a student will never receive a score lower than a passing grade. The classroom teacher may choose to give in-between grades such as 4.25 or 4.75.
There are 4 grading categories: engagement, listening, preparation, and behavior.
