From NCTM's Mathematics Formative Assessment Vol 2, here is a visual aide/ handout you can use to completely transform grading in your classroom! It will save you hours and truly deepen your students' mathematical understandings in ANY grade level. The coding system allows great structure for students to become more active in their learning and completing problems until concept mastery is achieved. Participation Rubric
This participation rubric is meant to be used as a weekly grade in any class. The grading is 5, 4, and 3.5 and so a student will never receive a score lower than a passing grade. The classroom teacher may choose to give in-between grades such as 4.25 or 4.75.
There are 4 grading categories: engagement, listening, preparation, and behavior.
