Two-digit subtraction is the process of subtracting numbers that have two digits, such as 84 − 27. When subtracting two-digit numbers, we usually start from the ones place and then move to the tens place. If the top number in the ones place is smaller than the bottom number, we need to borrow from the tens place. Learning two-digit subtraction helps students understand number relationships and develop problem-solving skills for more advanced mathematics.

Solving 2 Step Equations Guide

This guide really helped my struggling students when they began the process of solving simple 2 step equations. Used with a dry erase pocket or laminated, it can be used over and over again. Students write the problem in the first row, then the reminders guide them to the next steps until they find the solution and solve for the variable. I found students were more confident in solving the equations after they had used the guides for a little while.

Distance using Absolute Value

Handout includes using a number line to physically find the distance between two numbers and prove that the absolute value of their difference is the same as the physical difference. Then students will use the absolute value to find the distance between numbers without using a number line. And finally students will apply the process to solve practical problems involving distance, length of objects, temperature, and money.
