I posted the curriculum map I made for my World History class on Instagram and after many questions about how I made it, I decided to post a free template. The cover page shows the document I created with this template, but the file itself just includes a black and white table. There are instructions on how to change the text and colors, as well as font information if you're wanting to recreate the map from the photo. Anyone who has a basic knowledge of Powerpoint should be able to make a beauti

Lesson Objectives Poster

One of the key elements in Classroom Instruction That Works, by Dean, Hubbell, Pitler, and Stone, is to post lesson objects where the students can read them. This poster is created for elementary teachers to use for this purpose. I recommend printing on a plotter, or other poster machine, because the dimensions of this poster are 14" X 34". Also, I recommend laminating and using an Vis'-a-Vis' marker to write, erase, and rewrite your objectives for all 6 subject areas: reading, writing, spelling

It also includes two templates for two different prep periods, but you can print out extra pages if you need more! Sick of never getting sub notes? I use a checkmark system with this document. The students' names are listed down the left side and during each quarter I check the students on the standards. A "+" means the student has mastered the standard. A checkmark means the student is working on the standard but making progress. A "-" means the student needs an intervention with the standard.

I've created this data chart to collect student data to mark IEP goals throughout each quarter. It's very basic, and is only meant as an overview of scores/levels. I list the student names down the left column. I use pencil to write down any scores/levels for the previous quarter and then use pen for the new scores. If a student doesn't have goals for a particular subject, I shade out the boxes using the "fill" option on the document. This chart allows me to quickly see what data is still needed

I fill out the first three sections myself, make a copy, and give the parent the original. The language used matches our school's grading policy, but it's a Word document, so feel free to change the language I use.

When I first started departmentalizing, I realized that I needed a place where I could see the progress alert grades and report card grades for BOTH of my classes in one place. At the start of each school year I print out 4 copies of this, each on different colored paper. I then label them Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4. I put my students names from my AM class on the left and then my PM on the right. You can edit the top if you teach reading and writing twice instead of math and science. Enjoy!
