Experience

Hey there! I'm Kayla and I'm thrilled to connect with you through this virtual space. As an SLP, I've worked primarily in school-based settings, having the privilege of primarily serving preschool-middle school. My goal is to support their communication journeys and help my students them reach their full potential. Recently, I have embarked on the journey of a virtual/remote SLP.

Teaching style

I'm the kind of SLP who likes to bring a laid-back, fun-loving vibe to my work. Laughter and relatability are key ingredients in my therapy sessions because I believe that a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere enhances learning and engagement.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I've served on the KSHA Board off-and-on for years as secretary-elect/secretary. I have also served as KSHA convention co-director (2024) and pediatric/school-based KSHA convention track chair (2023).

My own education history

I've obtained a bachelor's degree in Communication Disorders and a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. I am licensed in multiple states.

Additional biographical information

I understand the challenges and joys that come with being an SLP because I've been in your shoes. The late nights preparing therapy materials, the constant search for fresh ideas and resources, and the immeasurable joy of witnessing a breakthrough moment in a client's progress—I've experienced it all. My passion for this field is palpable, and I bring that passion to everything I do. I'm always seeking innovative ways to make therapy sessions more effective, exciting, and tailored to the unique needs of each individual I work with.
