Estimations to 5 and 10: Dice game!
This is a game the students can play with dice. The recording sheet is used to record what they roll and then ESTIMATE if it is closer to 5 or 10. They can use more than 1 die to increase the difficulty.

First Grade Number Sense Elimination Cards (with pictures 3-4)
Two sets of cards for numbers 3 and 4. Four sets of objects are shown on each card. Student has to choose which of the four sets does not equal the number (thereby "eliminating" it). Answer on the back of each card. This is one of four sets (others can also be found free on TPT). Helps students see how different sets can be equal to each other and how others cannot. Can be used as an independent game, a formative assessment with a teacher one-on-one or for small group instruction.

This game is a fun way for beginging mathmaticians to practice basic addition an subtraction. The game can be printed out for parents to pratice 1-on-1 with their child at home or played as a whole class team effort when placed under the overhead projector.
