I give this to my students in resource math class at the beginning of every week. I usually post one or two review problems on the whiteboard. They know to come right into class and begin working. This allows me to take attendance and pass out any additional materials for class that day. It's also a quick formative assessment tool to keep track of student progress. Enjoy!

Exploring Interest

Even when students can correctly calculate interest, I find they often don't quite understand what it is or how it is used in real life. This webquest has students investigate interest rates for different scenarios they will encounter in the future (car loans/student loans/savings accounts/etc.). I use this to introduce the concept of interest and pair it with the BrainPop credit card and interest videos, quizzes, and activities using my school's subscription. The file is an editable word

Given a blank equilateral triangle, students will recreate the Sierpinski's triangle fractal, to three iterations. They will be asked to figure out what fraction of the entire triangle each iteration takes up. From there, they will be asked to generate an infinite geometric series to describe this pattern, and then work out how much of the triangle will be filled when the series converges.

Angle Angle AA Triangle Similarity Activity | Similar Triangles | AAA

This geometry word problem can be used after investigating the " Angle Angle Triangle Similarity Postulate," as an application task. Some textbooks may refer to it as the AAA or Angle Angle Angle Triangle Similarity Theorem. Alternatively, it can be used as a guiding task, in which students attempt it and perhaps get perturbed. This can lead to an investigation of the Angle Angle Triangle Similarity Postulate. Students come to understand that when two angles of one triangle are congruent to
