Description
This geometry word problem can be used after investigating the "Angle Angle Triangle Similarity Postulate," as an application task. Some textbooks may refer to it as the AAA or Angle Angle Angle Triangle Similarity Theorem. Alternatively, it can be used as a guiding task, in which students attempt it and perhaps get perturbed. This can lead to an investigation of the Angle Angle Triangle Similarity Postulate.
Students come to understand that when two angles of one triangle are congruent to two corresponding angles of another triangle, then the corresponding side lengths are proportional. Thus, the triangles are similar. Then after the investigation, you can return to this task with your students since they will have the skills necessary to complete it.
Go deeper than congruent triangles and develop the concept of similar triangles and proportionality with your students.
Perfect for using on Google Classroom, Pair Deck, and/or other digital platforms.
