Inspired by a STEM project, Building a Water Slide allows students to think creatively while using various skills and strategies. I added equations to help students solve for how much of each material they could use. Once their solved for the amount of material, they had to measure and cut the correct dimensions. I used it with a gifted and talented 3rd grade class, but it can be differentiated to different levels. Be sure to have a camera close, students loved this one!
