This is a 6 week comprehensive Project Based Learning Unit that focuses on students redesigning the traditional Cereal Box. Students will work through the Engineering Design Process as well as learn the background mathematical concepts to create a newer version of a Cereal Container that decreases the Surface Area of materials while simultaneously increasing the total Volume. This fun project on consumer topics originally created to be used as a "holiday shopping project". It has now been made generic for any time of the year, but is easily customizable. It is a great way to assess a unit over percent proportions. Students use the percent proportion to calculate discounts, taxes, tips, percent off, and original prices. Students create a final product which can be displayed. A rubric is included. Tax rates in the Katy, TX area are utilized but can be customized
