This fun project on consumer topics originally created to be used as a "holiday shopping project". It has now been made generic for any time of the year, but is easily customizable. It is a great way to assess a unit over percent proportions.
Students use the percent proportion to calculate discounts, taxes, tips, percent off, and original prices. Students create a final product which can be displayed. A rubric is included. Tax rates in the Katy, TX area are utilized but can be customized

It covers independent and dependent probability and the use of the word "or" for adding probabilities vs. the word "and" (or a comma) for multiplying probabilities.
