Conic Sections Mini Golf Hole Project
This is a monster of a project!! It has an AWESOME end product. Ideal if your school does an exhibition night at the end of the year. This project does take a LOOOOONG time so make sure you schedule part of it (the building part) over spring break. I had someone come to the school and cut out all the boards using a skill saw, but it might be easier if your school has a wood shop.

My Parent Function Family Tree
This is an exploration of the parent functions and their transformations that can be stapled into a nice booklet. The parent functions it focuses on are: quadratics, identity, cubics, absolute value, greatest integer, reciprocals, and square roots. There is a page on each of the functions where students are guided through the graph of the original function using a table. Then students discover what happens when the equation is changed.

Function operations can seem so abstract, it's nice to give students a concrete example of when they might be useful. This project is about a Los Angeles Skateboard company called Fresh Wheels. Explain it to Me Unit Circle Project
I use this project in my Honors PreCalculus and PreCalculus classes. It could also be used in Algebra 2. Students are required to create a "Khan Academy" style video explaining the connection between the unit circle and the sine/cosine graphs. My students LOVE this project and enjoy all of the creativity involved. I even give extra credit for creative themes used in the video.
