Math Basketball - Ratios, Fractions, Percents
This is a worksheet to go with a math basketball game to be played in class. It is suggested to play with cups taped to the board and paper balls or ping pong balls. The practice involves recording their shots, determining their shooting percentages, and creating fractions and ratios based on their scores. As an extra challenge, the students have space to find the circumference and area of the hoop.

This is a project that I use at the end of the year to practice finding the percent of a quantity which is a 6th grade common core standard. I give the students imaginary coupons to use that are not attached to this document. This graphic organizer reinforces how to find sale prices and prices after taxes.

Percent Sales Advertiser Project with Rubric
Students will create a flyer or booklet with up to 10 items.
They must include sale prices using percents for each item
Rubric is included. This could take about 5 days for students.

Steps for the project
1. Make books out of paper

Shopping Spree Project: Calculating Percent Discounts by Multiplying Decimals
I use this project during our multiplying decimals unit. Students apply their knowledge of decimals to calculate the percent discount on items at a store. Students create posters for their store and choose items to sell along with the price and percent discount. Other students can "buy" their items at a discounted price by calculating the percent discount. A rubric and practice assignment are included as well that I use to practice this skill.
