"I WANT CANDY"
This was designed to give students some hands on practice with scaling, ratios, and percents. Students will bring in a piece of candy (seeing as it was just halloween for us) or you can offer them a small selection that you purchase. They will then record the measurements of the wrapper and scale the wrapper to a "larger than life" piece of candy. They get a chance to be creative, create equivalence, and identify the percent increase in size of their work.

Foley Sounds Project
Have your students use Soundtrap to recreate the soundtrack to a YouTube video. You can pre-select videos for the students to use. Have them write down different sounds they hear and recreate the soundtrack using loops from Soundtrap. Mute the video and play their finished product behind it.

This worksheet is great if you are teaching body percussion. I would recommend the following class arrangement. Day 1: Watch one of the body percussion videos on Youtube. For older kids i recommend Levitating by Dua Lipa. Anylise the patters. Break down students into groups and ask them to recreate the pattern without watching the video. Alternative Performance Assignment
In all the years I have taught, there has never been a performance where everyone was present. Regardless of the reason, I give all students an alternative way to make up the points. Whereas it is impossible to recreate a performance, this assignment touches on other standards that we don't spend a ton of time on throughout the concert season and do require students to put in work they would have been doing while at a performance. This assignment has worked well for me for a number of reasons.
