I typically give this to students at the beginning of our Edgar Allan Poe unit (before we read The Raven and one of his hoax stories). Students guess based on their prior knowledge about Poe (not graded). Or you can give a lecture/webquest about this information and this can either be used as the guiding worksheet or a follow-up quiz (in that case, it would be graded).
