This presentation introduces the rules for multiplying and dividing integers. The rules are formally introduced after students have had a chance to explore multiplication and division using a number line. This presentation could be used as part of an introduction to integer multiplication and division, or as a review at the beginning of Algebra 1. If you would like to purchase the complete lesson (including the Powerpoint, practice problems, and other goodies), you can find it here: -Rules f

This presentation introduces the rules for adding and subtracting integers. At certain points in the presentation, students are asked to solve a set of addition or subtraction problems, then use the results to come up with a rule on their own. The problems, along with prompts for students to develop their rules, are provided on a sheet included with this product. The rules are formally introduced after students have had a chance to develop them on their own. This presentation could be used

In my first 2 years of teaching I found Integers to be one of the toughest concepts for students to grasp in the middle school. I tried using a rule, number lines, and tiles and for some kids it just did not click. My last resort was using a thermometer to teach the kids about adding integers. These notes / worksheet will give kids the chance to practice adding integers using temperature. Do not forget to Rate and Comment :)

Many math students struggle combining integers. Textbook rules, number lines, and manipulatives often confuse students who then run into snags on subsequent concepts that require adding and subtracting integers. Because everyone deals with money (usually from a very young age), I found that relating integers to money is very intuitive for students at any level – upper elementary to algebra. You will be amazed how quickly and painlessly your students will finally grasp subtracting integers. Incl

A quick and fun way to review integer rules...just pick any two integers for the students to work on and practice. For example, say two numbers like -8 and 4, and their job is to find the sum -8 + 4, the difference - 8 - 4, the product -8 x 4, and the quotient - 8/4. For beginner levels, make sure the two numbers are single digit, and are divisible (the first number has to be a larger absolute value than the second, like 10 and 5, 12 and 4, -16 and 8, etc. so the quotient becomes a whole numb
