This is a quick practice type activity on expanding logs. There is a Connect 4 Worksheet that has 10 problems on it and then a Connect 4 Board that has corresponding answers. Most of the problems only contain 2 "parts" in the answer, however problem #6 contains 3 parts. Please tell your students that only 2 of the 3 parts are on the board (part with x and part with y). I run connect 4 in pairs in my classroom. Students should solve the problems together, to ensure the correct answer was fo

These are the notes that I use to introduce the unit circle to my students. It walks through labeling the unit circle in degrees and then radians. Students then discover all multiples of pi as well as their coordinates. Sine, Cosine, and Tangent values are found. There is also a blank unit circle included for students to practice. Please let me know if you have any questions. Enjoy!

Equations - Solving Equations Reducible to a Quadratic 2

This self checking worksheet uses a quadratic base, but the equations have different exponents as well as an additional step to solve at the end. Some are whole numbers, some fractions and some negative whole numbers: 3(2x+4)^(2/5) - 4(2x+4)x^(1/5) - 4 = 0 and (2x)^8 - 34(2x)^4 + 64 = 0. The students must be able to work with radicals as well as factor trinomials. The student must check the solutions. When finished, the student will learn an obvious statement.

In this video I work throught the exact same slides that I present to my students inside of the classroom. Some of the problem are designed for me to cover in class and some are for the students. Regardless in the video I explain them all step by step as well as introduce the concept slowly and provide to formal notes to back everything up.

With this project, your students will explore optimization by helping Farmer Sally construct a pasture for her farm animals. This project is broken down into 6 steps that walk the students through sketching a diagram, writing a function, graphing the function, identifying the domain and range, and finally determining the dimensions of the pasture that yield the maximum area.

Note: There was an error in this set where the cards say tan but work like sine functions. I would like to update this set but no longer have the computer with the code for the program-- so I'll make it free for now. If this has already been bought, please request refund and I can also send you the other function note cards. This is a set of over 52 flashcards with an equation for a trigonometric function on one side and its associated plot on the other side. This could used be used in activity

Estimate the gradient in a point on a curve

This is an very basic introduction to the ideas behind calculus. I normally do this investigation a year before we start with proper calculus. It is based on the idea that the gradient of a line (tangent) going through the point A on a curve will be somewhere between the gradient of line AB and AC if B and C are also points on the curve. But the closer B and C is to the point A the smaller the interval will be and the better you will be able to estimate the gradient of A. This leads learners

Does It Match: Determinants

Do you want students to work in groups so that they learn to work together but can't stand the fact that they may be just copying work off each other? This activity can help!!! This is one of my favorite small group activities!!! Students will practice determinant cooperatively as they are divided into groups of two or three. Students are assigned a column of problems to work on. Even though the problems that each student is working is completely different, the answers are the same. It allows s
