I have students use their textbook to complete this sheet on parts and functions of the compound light microscope. It allows students to gain their own knowledge without simply copying notes from the board. The blanks in the functions require students to use the functions given to them in their textbook and/or other sources and apply knowledge learned. I find this activity to be very effective.
