Preview of Calculus Applications of Derivatives

Calculus Applications of Derivatives

Created by
Lisa Jones
Through this activity students will determine critical numbers of functions, locate relative extrema and points of inflection, and utilize the first and second derivatives to locate intervals on which the function is increasing or decreasing and to describe its concavity. On the last problem, students will utilize all of these techniques, as well as their prior knowledge of finding the roots of a polynomial to graph a cubic function.

Probability & Statistics: Pre-assessment and Exit Pass

Students often struggle with mathematical concepts because terms, formulas, and functions can be overwhelming. Moreover, mathematical vocabulary confuses students because math terms are content specific. Defining what those terms mean and how they are used helps students master content. The Probability & Statistics Vocabulary Survey can be used as a pre-assessment to evaluate students' prior knowledge. Data from this formative assessment will assist with grouping students and with planning ins
