I have created 21 different mastery tests that assess students' proficiency of the Number and Operations in Base Ten, Number and Operations in Fractions, and the Operations and Algebraic Thinking standards. I usually have my students glue the first 2 pages in their interactive math notebooks, and as students pass the assessments with a score of at least 80%, I initial that lesson and students know to move on to the next quiz. These tests are used as brief formative assessments to help me to d
Students will use the Frayer Model to have a deeper understanding of the required vocabulary. Students must be able to identify, give examples, non-examples, and how they would recognize each word.
In this graphic organizer, the student will fill in the areas for the part to total and use the "1" to see that in order to find the %, you can multiply the top and bottom of the ratio by "1" to get the percent. Laminate so the students can use it over and over with dry erase markers.
This booklet includes Math and Language Arts concepts (mostly grammar and writing) as well as a little Science in the format of quiz questions based on the core. 50 days worth of activities are provided here & this is only one part of the product. This includes vocabulary, models/diagrams for each, and examples for parents and students to put in their notes. I use these for the whole week as we learn the words and we highlight these. Students also have a quiz on these words because I think vocabulary focus should be a huge part of any math class. I have tried to show various methods for the factors.
This graphic organizer lets your students relate decimals, fractions andpercents based on the day of school. It also includes work for factors and multiples of the day of school. Daily Money can be used to teach place value and making change. Start with a certain dollar amount, ( I use $1,000,000 and every day we multiply the date by 1,000 and that is what we spend.

I have my students fill in this page as we go through our calendar math routine. It keeps them engaged and they really benefit from the routine. In addition, it works as an easy formative assessment. On the back I use a Number of the day outline I got from a friend. Feel free to make adjustments as needed to suit your calendar math routine :)
Although students see percentages all the time when checking their grades, they don't usually understand the meaning behind them! Use these guided notes to introduce percentsand practice changing from fraction to decimal. This includes the guided notes as well as a second practice problem sheet.
This activity guides the learner in finding the surface area of a 3-D object (cube). TLW classifies the 3-D object by labeling its edges, faces, and vertices. Then, given dimensions and a visual representation of the net of a cube, TLW calculate the area of each face and sum the total for the cube's surface area.
I use this resource as an interactive math journal activity for my alternate middle school math class, but it can be used as differentiated notes, quiz, or for reinforcement or review.
This activity can be used as a center activity, seat work, or an interactive notebook piece. Aligned with SOL 2.2a (count forward by 2's, 5's, and 10's increased to 120, starting at various multiples.)
This foldable is to help students with 3 of our learning goals for Chapter 7. It focuses on ratios, unit rate and unit cost, converting fractions to decimals to percents, and finding a percent of a number. I printed the template into SMARTNotebook and we wrote the notes as a group. They cut and pasted their notes onto a construction paper.
