Angle and Scale Bell Ringer

Kickstart your math class with this engaging “Do Now” warm-up slip! Designed for 7th-grade students, this quick activity gets students thinking about triangle angles, equations, and scale factor applications as soon as they enter the classroom. How It Works: Students solve for a missing angle in a triangle by writing an equation. They apply a scale factor to a triangle-shaped sign, calculating new dimensions, areas, and the factor by which the area increases. The activity is designed to be c

Surface Area

This activity guides the learner in finding the surface area of a 3-D object (cube). TLW classifies the 3-D object by labeling its edges, faces, and vertices. Then, given dimensions and a visual representation of the net of a cube, TLW calculate the area of each face and sum the total for the cube's surface area. I use this resource as an interactive math journal activity for my alternate middle school math class, but it can be used as differentiated notes, quiz, or for reinforcement or review.
