Calendar Math Page

I have my students fill in this page as we go through our calendar math routine. It keeps them engaged and they really benefit from the routine. In addition, it works as an easy formative assessment. On the back I use a Number of the day outline I got from a friend. Feel free to make adjustments as needed to suit your calendar math routine :)

Dimensional Analysis / Convert unit rates foldable

This two sided foldable will walk students through the steps to convert between unit rates AKA perform dimensional analysis. They can quiz themselves by leaving the flaps down, or open them all to guide themselves through practice problems. Each step has room for an example of both converting 1 unit or measure and also converting a rate to a different rate.

Surface Area

This activity guides the learner in finding the surface area of a 3-D object (cube). TLW classifies the 3-D object by labeling its edges, faces, and vertices. Then, given dimensions and a visual representation of the net of a cube, TLW calculate the area of each face and sum the total for the cube's surface area. I use this resource as an interactive math journal activity for my alternate middle school math class, but it can be used as differentiated notes, quiz, or for reinforcement or review.

My Summer

Everyday Math
This is intended for the first days of school allowing students to share there summer, then determining percentages on certain aspects of that summer. this offers a great hook into estimating percentages and also thinking about units of measure when making sense of those percentages. The first page allow a lot of discourse for estimating percent into hour by first converting major check points like 25,50,75 and 100 percent. The second page allows student to think more deeply on how to properly a
