This is a set of editable PowerPoint pages that can be used to teach the distributive property using the area model for multiplication. Extension activities link the concepts of multiplication with factors and expanded notation. The relationship between multiplication and division is emphasized through 'missing factors' models. Formative assessment pages allow students to make their own models and show their understanding.
