This set of Cornell notes takes the Equivalent Fraction Tables from my other PowerPoint and uses them to find equivalent fractions with common denominators in order to add. The idea of tables assists students that lack the number sense or memorization of facts needed to choose a common denominator. The tables/graphic organizers also emphasize the conversion of BOTH the numerator AND denominator (which can be mistakenly forgotten in these multi-step problems).

This set of Cornell notes was used to introduce the idea of equivalent fractions. Students had created visual representations the day before and were moving into the mathematical process (using multiplication).
