These are my Chapter 1 notes that I use with my Algebra 1 class at the beginning of the year. We go through the yellow slides as a class to gain an understanding of how to solve the problem, and then they students have a chance to solve a similar problem on their own on the white slide. This is also a good material to use as a review before a big test. Designed for and used with a support class for students in 8th grade Algebra, this powerpoint was used to support the Holt curriculum (chapter 1, order of operations). This is a note-taking presentation using Cornell notes and guides students from what they already know (PEMDAS and the isolated skills of finding square roots and absolute value) and synthesizes them. The powerpoint takes the students step-by-step through six practice problems.
