Students will investigate the effect of "a" on the graph of a quadratic function. They will start with making a prediction about the shape of the graph of a quadratic function and then graph y=x^2 and then y=-x^2 and compare the two graphs. they will then graph functions in which "a" increases and "a" decreases and make conclusions based on their graphs. It is a nice way to introduce graphing quadratic functions before going into vertex form and standard form.

A.SSE.1 Algebra Unit 1 Lesson 9 Notes Algebraic Expressions

Guided notes and examples of translating word expressions to algebraic expressions. When I use this product in my classroom, I ask my students to watch a video of the SCAFFOLDED NOTES before class. This video can be found on my youtube channel, Hubertdollar9482.  As a warm up/activator my students correct the previous day’s google form quiz. Then I use an OPENING with different examples from the notes to review content. Next my students complete PRACTICE on the content in a google sheet that tur

Students will fill in formulas for each type of factoring and complete an example on each. The first page is directions I hung on the wall, I used this as a station. One station was graphing on desmos activity, one stations was with the teacher going over a quiz, and one was this. They rotated in large groups. You could do this as a stand alone activity as well. The directions are for the factoring stations but you can make a copy and edit how you would like. I printed on colored paper but all g
