Two ways to complete the mazes. Students can just draw a line, or they can circle fact families. (Keys for each way are included) If students are moving left to right with a problem, they will refer to the plus or minus symbol for that row. If they are moving top to bottom, they will refer to the plus of minus symbol for that column. This is a more challenging activity. There will always be 8 problems before the finish (4 addition and 4 subtraction).

If you have a large class and like to do small groups, you may have some students that naturally want to follow what other students are doing and just copy their work. Having multiples of the same task but with different criteria can help address this issue and develop more independence on the part of all students. This activity works on cutting and hole punching for fine-motor skills, while developing ability to count items correctly. Have students always start hole-punching from the left side
