I use these story problems with my students to help them decide the steps they should follow in order to find the solution. I project the stories on the board and print the last 2 pages double sided to make a booklet. There is an extra spot for students to create their own 2-step story problem! Which of These Problems is NOT Like the Others?

This is a quick review of fraction rules, and was made to be projected on a SmartBoard; however, it can also be printed out. I project it and then have student pairs use their whiteboards to come up with their solutions and explanation. The goal is for the students to be able to look at the problems and realize that one of the fractions being multiplied is an improper fraction, which will result in a product smaller than the proper fraction by which it's being multiplied.
