If you do not have access to these counters at your school you can use the website provided as a virtual manipulative, or you can create counters by using "chips" like tiddily winks, or even foam squares (glue two sheets together for the two colored sides).

Players solve the number sentence on their chip and then they cover up the corresponding square on the game board. The goal of the game is to have four vertical, horizontal, or diagonal squares of the same color. Adding Integers- Mini Lesson
This mini lesson is focused on how to add positive and negative integers. The mini lesson starts by reviewing the concept of an integer and teaches adding integers with the chip model, the number line, and the "party or war" metaphor. There are guided examples, practice problems, and an analysis component at the end of the lesson.

Integers Game and Addition Practice
I wanted my students to be able to independently practice comparing and adding integers. The first game is comparing integers with playing cards. The second activity is adding integers using positive and negative chips. You will have to have decks of playing cards to play, I typically have my students draw the positive and negative chips.

Interactive Notebook Number Line
I gave students a colored paper clip and they used that as a 'slider' over the number line. I used this as a manipulative to practice adding and subtracting integers. Then taping just the ends of it into the interactive notebook (so the paper clip can still move) as a reference.
