This is a project in which students are given a million dollars and have to spend it in certain ways. They have to go to college (including putting 15% aside for books/housing,etc), buy a house, go on vacation, buy a car, and donate to a charity. They have to write checks for each purchase. My students really loved this project as an end of the year activity!

This is a project that lasts as long as you want it to... I usually give my students a good 2 weeks of math period time (or extra time) to complete their business idea. This does also require a teacher or someone to "shop" at their businesses when they are ready. Then, on the last day, students get to "shop" at each others' businesses. I created this project as a summation of Eureka Math Module 4 for Grade 3. A sample template comes attached and the file is in word form so you can modify it as necessary. It was great for a little extra home connection that showed families what their students were learning. For this project, students take the same number of square units (in centimeters and inches) and create the same shape. They then answer questions about their creations and submit as a poster.
