This is an activity that I designed to use as an introduction for place value. In the activity, groups or individuals will help a family set up a store by deciding what products to sell and what the prices should be. They will get to round to the nearest whole dollar and order the prices from greatest to least.

The group project is designed to kick off a unit on adding, subtracting and estimating. It is bases on students designing a house for a client and includes area using graph paper.

This is a worksheet I put together to introduce the concept of interdependence to my 5th grade students.
